The latest installation from the architect Crossboundaries is composed of 12 prefabricated units of "box room and packing box" (hereinafter referred to as "box unit"), which is regarded as a bold exploration of the future school, and the future education is bound to change with social relations. In the future, schools will occur in a wide range of places in society, and assembly application just provides strong technical support. The facility is part of the theme exhibition of the 2019 Shenzhen Hong Kong Biennale, focusing on the future education model of schools in the future and the possibility of prefabricated and modular construction in the field of educational architecture. There are 5 booths in this exhibition, all of which are built with standard box type units provided by CSCEC technology. Crossboundaries' work, named "infinity 6," is located on an 18x18m site The "18 x 18 m" square will be divided into 4 "natural cross" planes.


The "X" shape creates different spaces, and the whole structure presents an open state. Each unit module is a complete space, with multiple open links. More standard box type unit modules can be added infinitely. When multiple modules are combined, they can grow infinitely in three dimensions. The building can become an infinite space to flexibly adapt to the needs of different places and functions. The main prefabricated components are manufactured in the factory and assembled directly on site, so as to ensure the construction efficiency and accuracy in a short time, and also ensure the construction quality. The supporting structure adopts the frame structure of beam column combination, floor slab and non load-bearing partition wall which can be easily changed, which makes the division and combination of interior classroom space easy. Because of the frame structure system, the maintenance components, such as walls and railings, can be flexibly arranged, so that the "infinite 6" shows the maximum openness to the street and courtyard. This indicates the infinite possibility of education in the future. No matter from the educational mode, the surroundings of the venue, or the size of the space. Whether you are from southeast to northwest, there is infinite possibility of opening and closing. This concept comes from our vision and imagination of the future. The school transcends the concept of fence and becomes an open and interactive space. "Infinity 6" is a beautiful display of the vision of the future school: she starts from the most basic unit elements, she increases or decreases at any time, and places it anywhere.



1. Shared space: the school should be a shared aggregation space, a center and an incubator for social interaction, which not only allows students and teachers to participate in the occurrence, but also can mobilize the whole community to participate in it.






2. Internal and external flow: schools should provide children with more abundant space experience, and blur the physical barriers between the interior and exterior of the space. It will spread all over the city and countryside, even in the nature. Learning will be a natural process.






3. Private space: provide a private space as an independent study or as a possibility for group discussion, allowing a moment of tranquility for in-depth thinking. In the same space at the same time or impromptu.






4. Rich materials: through spraying, it can weaken the ice cold feeling of standard prefabricated module, rich and gorgeous color selection, cooperate with children's unrestrained and free imagination, greatly expand nature, and let liveliness run through the whole learning process.






5. Opening and intercommunication: the spacious opening on the building facade can make the school and the surrounding environment become natural, provide an open attitude, and outline an interesting scene of the city. Large area windows can be further expanded through small reading niches, which participate in new dynamic learning methods and can be assembled and used in and out of the classroom at any time.





6. Intelligent Technology: finally, the school should be regarded as an intelligent, constantly changing and developing space, encourage interaction and blend, and flourish under the concept of flexible education. Everything is possible, and the finite becomes infinite.



The above six concepts are integrated into the device as realization: four small space squares are connected by "X" shape, and each square is in the form of semi open and semi enclosed space. When you stand in the middle of the small square, the two wings of the extended building of "infinite 6" are like open pages to show the gathering, private space, internal and external space, basketball court, swing area, and the transformation of space is naturally distinguished by color blocks. It's essential to make every feature fun. With the "outer staircase" as the highlight, the elevation of the foundation forms a small stage, where you can make speeches, attend public classes, listen to music, perform stage plays, and all kinds of changes can be realized. The principle of entrance and exit is represented by a small porch, which extends to a more open playground and is implemented in the sports square. The general layout of "infinite 6" is the unity of integration and separation. It not only completes the organic combination of site and single building, function and form, but also reserves infinite possibility for organic growth in the future. This is a profound understanding of future education.
